During this underwear journey, we've had to really get comfortable with asking men about their favorite pair. One question that comes up often is, "What's the difference between boxer briefs and trunks?"
We've realized most men are familiar with both, but often men don't know what they have because men, typically value two things above all else when shopping for underwear: price & convenience. Through our research, men will sometimes be wearing trunks and think their boxer briefs. Let's break down the difference.
Boxer Briefs
Most boys transition from tightey whiteys (briefs) to boxers to boxer briefs. Boxer briefs range from 6' to 9' inseams. It is the number one most purchased cut of men's underwear. Boxer briefs provide more coverage, which benefits men with bigger thighs. Our Power Boxer Briefs have a 6' inseam.
Depending on the material, but usually a rule of thumb, boxer briefs aren't the best for tighter fitting clothes. If you're wearing skinny jeans, usually there's going to be at least a little readjusting.
Trunks
We like to think of trunks as a compromise between briefs and boxer briefs. Trunks are often thought of by men, as shorter boxer briefs (or longer briefs). They typically hover around a 4' inseam (Power Trunks).
Trunks are great for tighter fitting clothing. On the downside, it's less material and for men with bigger thighs, they can become briefs. Depending on the material, they can bunch up under your sack, especially cotton or bamboo. Not typical with modal (just saying). They also are popular in crossing over to women customers.
We hope this helps. Feel free to give our Power Boxer Briefs and our Power Trunks a try. We believe you should have both so you can be comfortable in whatever outfit you wear over your drawls. But, in the end, we really want you to be educated for whenever you choose your next favorite pair for your favorite pair.
